The Estonian “Oscar” candidate received two more awards last week from international film festivals.
In Belgium, the Oostende festival awarded “Tangerines” with Best Film title in its “Taste of Europe” program. The Eurasian international film festival in Kasahstan honored “Tangerines” with the Best Actor award. This was shared among Lembit Ulfsak, Elmo Nüganen, Giorgi Nakhashidze and Misha Meskhi. Autumn brings many more festivals for “Tangerines”, the most important being the Goa International film festival in India, which is a recognized A-list festival. Earlier the film has received the following awards: – Warssaw film festival- Best director, audience award – Mannheim-Heidelberg international film festival- Special award of Mannheim-Heidelberg, audience award – Fajri film festival- Best film, best script – Black nights film festival- Best Estonian film, Don Quijote jury prize by International Federation of Film Societies – Tbilisi international film festival- Best director – Kerala international film festival- Opening film, official selection – Bifest-Bari film festival- Best film – Jerusalem film festival- Special mention Other acknowledgements: – Culture award from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Film of the Year award from the Estonian Association of Film Journalists – Best actor of the year award to Lembit Ulfsak from the Cultural Endowment of Estonia – Audiovisual award of the year from the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
